National Plus Size Appreciation Day

It’s one of my favorite days today!  October 6^th is National Plus Size Appreciation Day, a day to celebrate our beautiful, God given curves, and a wonderful reminder that beauty is not one size fits all...Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.

I’d like to take this opportunity to share my beauty story…..

Hi!  I’m Mary, the owner and founder of H2G Boutique.  We are an online clothing store, as well as having booth space in two locations in Shreveport Louisiana. H2G stands for How 2 Grandma.  3 years ago, my daughter blessed this world with the most beautiful, free-spirited daughter of her own and our world changed in an instant.  Oh, how this little human has us wrapped around her little finger and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

My mission at H2G has always been to be size inclusive and there’s a personal reason for this… Many moons ago, when I was pregnant with my own daughter, I gained over 100 pounds.  For years after her birth, shopping for clothes became a struggle and my least favorite experience.  I would tirelessly search for clothing options that were trendy, cute and available in my size.  As we all know, most stores have their own version of a “plus size” section for women, but I found the options were extremely limited and many stores or boutiques didn’t even have plus size options for women shopping for tops, bottoms, or dresses over a certain size.  I would walk into these smaller stores with friends and think, “I hope they have jewelry or shoes because I could at least purchase something that would fit me.”  These moments had me feeling embarrassed, defeated and a bit depressed.

I finally made the very personal choice to have weight loss surgery.  Yes, I have lost a significant amount of weight, but it also comes with its own set of issues.  The most significant being that I am still not 100 percent comfortable wearing certain items of clothing that are in my size.

I share this personal story with you, my readers, and customers, so you understand how important it is for us at H2G to do our part to help women feel comfortable shopping with our company.  We want everyone, no matter their shape or size, to be able to find fashionable, beautiful clothing ranging in size S, M, L, XL, 2X and 3X, that makes them feel confident, gorgeous, and celebrates their unique shape.

So today and every day, we celebrate our God given curves.  Walk with confidence beautiful ones. As Dr. Seuss wrote, “Today You are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
